Our missions PDF Print
Techtera – Technical Textiles Rhône-Alpes – was granted the “competitiveness cluster” during the CIADT (Inter-ministry Committee for the Development of Territory) in July 12th 2005. The cluster became an association on November 9th 2005.

Our activities ? To spark off and to provide a frame (set-up, organisation, funding) of the collaborative R&D projects.

How do we do it ? Techtera raises strategic questions addressing major technical and economical issues of the technical textile industry. The cluster also assists collaborative research proposals resulting from this process, starting from the trial phase, up to product prototyping.

More… Techtera connects manufacturers, technical centres, research centres... Its purpose is also to revitalise the links between companies from the textile sector and to use the Rhône-Alpes area as a flagship territory for Technical and Functional Textiles in Europe and on the most important market for the cluster.

Our cluster, day-by-day :

  • makes the best of its network, for the benefit of member companies (manufacturing companies, research centres, technical centres, training and education centres)
  • provides a technological and financial watch of the industry, aiming at widening the possibilities for innovation (Innovation Workshop)
  • constitutes, runs and conducts the collaborative projects follow-up groups (1 group per month)
  • attracts the human and financial means necessary for the success of projects
  • provides a frame and organizes the setting up of projects
  • advises and supports its members through their search for funding suitable for their projects
  • Understands and communicates market-related, law and technical expertises, capital for setting up projects
  • connects businesses (B to B), researchers, government, sponsors
  • conceives and implements partnerships, especially inter-clustering in France and abroad
  • implements international communication plans
  • is the “innovation” flagship for technical textiles in the Rhône-Alpes area
