Launched in 2022, the AlpTextyles project — of which Techtera is a partner — is now entering its final phase. The project will be showcased at Milano Unica, in the “Trends” area of the trade fair.
A four-step journey:
- The Alpine Wool Library
Explore a tactile archive of local sheep breeds, whose wool reflects the rich biodiversity of the Alpine regions. - The “Materials” Space
Handcrafted fabrics and experiments with natural dyes illustrate pilot initiatives based on circular practices and low-impact processes. Here, every material tells a story of how waste becomes a resource, and how color is born from the earth — all within a regenerative vision of textile production. - The “Fashion” Space
Discover contemporary garments made from Alpine wool, demonstrating that heritage and design can together create new aesthetics and market opportunities. Each piece reveals a narrative of short supply chains, local economies, and a shared commitment to sustainability rooted in tradition. - The AlpTextyles Metaverse
At the heart of the stand, dive into a virtual journey through digitized Alpine landscapes, artisan workshops, and stories where past meets future. This virtual platform — a tool for sharing knowledge and connecting communities — offers access to the AlpTextyles MOOC: a free online course on sustainable and circular textile practices, designed for students, professionals, and creatives.
Throughout the exhibition, textile panels recount the story of the project — from research and mapping to workshops, co-design, and storytelling. This heritage-based approach shows how preserving traditional practices can offer innovative solutions to today’s environmental and cultural challenges.
AlpTextyles is co-financed by the European Union under the Interreg Alpine Space program.
