Thanks to its patents and its technology, the CHAB company is the winner of the ADEME “Sustainable Energy 2023” call for projects, in consortium with the BRGM (Geological and Mining Research Office) and DrillHeat (expert in surface geothermal drilling). This project aims to improve processes concerning surface geothermal energy for boreholes reaching depths of up to 200 metres.
For CHAB, the aim of the project is to design a system that is both hardwearing and flexible, perfectly suited to vertical geothermal probes. The second challenge consists of facilitating implementation of this system.
The CHAB system is a circular textile permanent formwork solution, representing an alternative to tubular steel piles. The implementation of this system is appropriate when the site has cracks or fractures or even voids that prevent good cementing of the drilling, which is essential to protect the water tables and the subsoil – as required by the standard.
This improvement will provide the project manager and operator with best performance when carrying out the work, thus highlighting the benefits of this carbon-free energy.
