Protection of the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris thanks to Serge Ferrari flexible composite fabrics

23 . 07 . 2024

This summer 2024, Serge Ferrari will cover several sites of the Paris Olympic Games with its famous flexible composite canvases. In fact, some 100,000 m² of canvases manufactured by Serge Ferrari will be installed in just a few days.

This year, the Olympic committee privileges moderation, by restricting the construction of new infrastructures. The membranes must therefore combine aesthetics and technical performance. The Serge Ferrari know-how will be put to good use with the use of products made from recycled fibres, which will retain the same lifespan and hardwearing properties.

In Paris, in order to reduce the luminosity, Serge Ferrari canvases will notably cover part of the grounds of the “Grand Palais”, where the fencing events take place. In the Olympic village, emphasis has been placed on the performance of sun protection, while at the Le Bourget press centre, acoustics were prioritised. Serge Ferrari canvases will cover the Philippe-Chatrier court at Roland-Garros, where the tennis events will be played.

Since the Sydney Olympic Games in 2000, Serge Ferrari has become the official supplier of flexible composite fabrics for this event. They now generate more than 80% of their turnover outside France.
