Recyc’Elit marks a world first with a 100% recycled textile

A few months ago, Recyc’Elit crossed a major milestone in textile recycling. In Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, its innovative process made it possible to depolymerise complex and multicoloured textiles composed of difficult-to-recycle blends, such as polyester/elastane (7% to 20%), polyester/polyamide (12% to 30%), polyester/cotton (45%), and polyester/polyurethane (20% to 30%).

The resulting monomers were then polymerised near Lyon by IMP/INSA, thus creating rPET granules. These were transformed into yarns and textured by AITEX in Europe, before being knitted and shaped for the product.

The result: the first finished product made entirely out of recycled materials originating from the Recyc’Elit process. An innovation that paves the way for large-scale sustainable production.
