Since 2005, the Techtera Innovation Commission has been a key element in the certification process of the Innovation Cluster. Its mission is to provide tangible added value to collaborative R&D project leaders; acting both as a trusted third party and a strategic organisational tool.
Its role is multifaceted: Assess the scientific and technical soundness of projects; Question their relevance in relation to industrial and sector challenges; Formulate recommendations for improvement; Strengthen the readability and credibility of applications to funding agencies.
This work, conducted in complete neutrality, is based on internal regulations and a charter guaranteeing the confidentiality of discussions.
Submission of projects to the Innovation Commission is open to all cluster members. This Commission plays a driving role in Techtera’s collaborative innovation dynamic.
In 2024, 63% of projects awarded the Cluster’s certification had been funded.
A strategy to encourage evolution and response regarding current challenges
Recent years have seen a shift in the kind of innovation projects led by Techtera members. These projects are increasingly focused on developments with a high degree of technological maturity, related to industrialisation, process, and business model issues. Furthermore, digitalisation – one of the Cluster’s strategic policies – is playing an increasingly important role in these projects.
In this context, the Commission is pursuing a dynamic of continuous adaptation to maintain the highest level of support.
A call for skills to support the major transitions
To respond to the transformations taking place in the sector, the Innovation Commission aims to integrate new skills into several key areas by 2025:
- Industrial processes (production, transformation, integration)
- Digitalisation of processes, products, and services
- Innovative business models
- Bio-sourced materials and associated processes
The Innovation Commission’s experts are industrialists or academics, holding doctorates and with a detailed understanding of research and innovation dynamics.
Through this evolution, Techtera reaffirms its ambition: Maintain the highest level of excellence and support, in order to develop high-impact projects for the textile industry.
