CANOE: Pioneering French R&D technology centre for advanced materials and composites
For over 15 years, CANOE has supported enterprises in the development of innovative and sustainable material and process solutions; to strengthen their competitiveness and promote the transition of energy and environment.
The team of fifty prepares polymer formulations, develops manufacturing processes, identifies the characteristics of the materials designed, and supports the transfer of technology.
At the heart of the present challenges – climate change, public health and national security – CANOE provides its expertise and new equipment for:
- The wet-process manufacturing of polymer fibres, such as cellulose fibres for textile or composite applications
- The development of hollow polymer and bio-sourced fibres, used for water treatment and gas permeation
- The development of carbon fibres, adapted to the needs of both the energy and defence markets
The use of short fibres and nonwoven fabrics using wet-laid technology
Strongly committed to the circular economy, CANOE has launched a pilot textile recycling unit to extract acrylic or cotton from used clothing and reprocess them into reusable continuous filaments.
