Tuesday, October 21 – Hôtel de Région, Lyon
Techtera invites you to the closing event of the AlpTextyles project, taking place on October 21 at the Hôtel de Région in Lyon.
Launched in November 2022, the project has spent three years exploring the Alpine textile heritage — both artisanal and industrial — with the goal of fostering sustainable and circular value chains across the Alps.
This event will showcase the project’s main results and reveal how circularity, heritage, and tourism can open new perspectives for the future of Alpine textiles.
On this occasion, you will have the opportunity to discover an exhibition, a virtual reality experience, and several round tables highlighting:
- The ancestral Alpine textile heritage: craftsmanship, flax and wool culture
- A mapping of 80 local sheep breeds
- A wool library showcasing the creative potential of these fibers
- The perception of the Alps by consumers and the opportunities for local companies to leverage this image
- The dyeing potential of endemic Alpine plants and agricultural co-products
- The MOOC developed to pass on these discoveries and know-how to younger generations
- The experiences of Summer Schools and “cultural transhumance” combining craftsmanship and tourism
The presentations will be followed by discussions on the key challenges addressed by the AlpTextyles project:
- How can we develop viable economic models for local and sustainable production?
- How can craftsmanship and tourism be combined to support the Alpine region in its ecological and economic transition?
Detailled programme:
- 9:00 a.m. – Welcome coffee
- 9:30 a.m. – Opening remarks by Antoine Le Roux, Director General of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Region, and presentation of the project’s main achievements
- 10:15 a.m. – Round Table 1: Local production, Alpine wool, hemp, flax & natural dyeing – How to develop viable business models and weave together craft and industry?
