MASSEBEUF Textiles launches the ORATEX platform, to organise the textile sector in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Region

MASSEBEUF Textiles, a major player in spinning in Drôme-Ardèche, launched the “ORATEX: from molecule to transformed yarn” platform last September.

This ambitious project, in partnership with IFTH and TECHTERA, aims to strengthen the textile sector in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Region and consolidate its position on national and international markets. The project, co-labelled by POLYMERIS and TECHTERA, is funded by the Région Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes and the French State.

Spinning is a missing link in the French textile value chain.

Since the mid-20th century, the rise of synthetic yarns has disrupted spinning in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes. At the end of the century, Asian competition and the withdrawal of large chemical groups have caused a decline in spinning in France. This deficit creates increased dependence on foreign producers, reduces flexibility as regards volumes and hinders innovation in raw materials, while limiting industrial sovereignty and sustainable production models.

MASSEBEUF Textiles, leads the ORATEX project

MASSEBEUF Textiles is tackling the issue by actively engaging in the development of a system adapted to these challenges, drawing on its know-how in the transformation of yarns by processes such as texturing, wrapping, assembly, twisting or chemical surface functionalisation. Thanks to this expertise, MASSEBEUF Textiles is positioning itself as a key player in tackling the challenges of the French textile value chain.

ORATEX: a response to the needs of the regional textile industry

The ORATEX platform, launched by MASSEBEUF Textiles, located on a 500 m² site, has a multifilament spinning line capable of adding polymers, producing up to 70 tonnes per year of small and medium series. Open to those working in the sector, it can process various materials, such as polyamide, polyester, as well as bio-sourced or recycled materials. This local production with a low carbon footprint meets sustainability requirements, and strengthens the independence and innovation of the regional textile industry.
