OTEGO: protecting the Master Canvases with a fibreglass tarpaulin

02 . 11 . 2023

Otego has developed a patented technical fabric, designed specifically to protect works of art in the event of fire.

Prestigious institutions, such as the Louvre, the Bibliothèque Nationale de France (BNF), the Musée des Arts et Métiers as well as the Jacquemart-André Museum in Paris, have opted for the use of this fabric.

Specialising in technical and laminated textiles, Otego has developed Fireguard to protect works of art and valuable objects in the event of fire. Made of fibreglass and equipped with an aluminised coating, this tarpaulin has the ability to delay the spread of fire and soot. It can also be used as a water or heat barrier.

Extremely light, with a weight of 100 g/m², it can be quickly deployed by the staff of the places exhibiting these works, or even by the firefighters themselves if they are called for an intervention.
