Porcher Industries and Terre de Lin: A strategic partnership for high-performance bio-composites

13 . 06 . 2025

A pioneer concerning technical textiles and high-performance thermoplastic composites, Porcher Industries is strengthening its partnership with Terre de Lin, the world leader for flax fibre production, based in Normandy.

This non-exclusive technical and commercial cooperation aims to develop sales of reinforcements for flax fibre-based thermoplastic composites, processed by thermocompression.

The new POLYPREG FLAX/TP thermoplastic composite reinforcements, woven from these flax rovings (long and narrow bundles of fibre) by Porcher Industries, combine the Group’s textile and chemical expertise to offer a lightweight bio-reinforcement solution. These materials are designed for the production of semi-structural parts using an ultra-fast thermocompression process, while allowing for a wide variety of visual effects.

At the same time, TDL Technique, a subsidiary of Terre de Lin, is developing a new generation of flax/thermoplastic roving (long and narrow bundle of fibre), with the aim of improving productivity in the use of flax for composites; thereby, facilitating end-of-life management of parts through more efficient recycling.

For Pascal Joubert des Ouches, Marketing Director of Porcher Industries, “This partnership allows Porcher Industries to provide sizeable quantities to the top automotive and aerospace suppliers. Also, sports brands are looking for this high-performance thermoplastic biomaterial, which has a reduced environmental impact and is easy to recycle”.
