Moulinage du Solier (MDS) has been a recognised expert for over 40 years in the development and preparation of yarns for technical applications, for the automotive, aeronautics and defence industries. The company has notably developed its own yarns based on aramids for sensitive applications (Nexocolor, TRY, Noemi, etc).
SOFILA is one of the oldest firms working in yarn preparation, after starting out in silk in the 19th century with the companies Billion, Mayor, Condamin & Prodon, Schwarzenbach, etc. Today, SOFILA works with all materials (natural, artificial, synthetic), including technical, for the clothing, medical, technical, furnishing, lace and accessories sectors. The merger of these two companies, whose skills are well-known, will provide an improved service for their respective clients:
- An extended product range: development and preparation of yarns of all materials, from 10 to more than 25,000 dtex, on the various yarn transformation operations: twisting, assembly, wrapping, texturing and coating
- A certified quality process (ISO 9001), associated with a complete analysis laboratory
- Greater flexibility of the production tool to meet all needs
As part of this operation, Pierre-Yves SUCHAIL, current manager of Moulinage du Solier, will take responsibility for the “technical yarns” division of SOFILA, for product development and commercial relations.
The entire production and machine adjustment team of Moulinage du Solier is joining SOFILA, which thus retains all the expertise and know-how of Moulinage du Solier. As from the end of August 2024, the operation involves a transfer of the Moulinage du Solier production equipment to the historic SOFILA site in Dunières. This transfer will be carried out in sequence over a period of 3 months in order to guarantee the level of service to all clients during this period, without affecting current activities.
