The Skills4Circularity project, of which Techtera is a partner, brings together 22 partners from twelve European countries for a period of 48 months. Its ambition is to support the green and digital transition of the textile sector; by strengthening key skills related to recycling, traceability and the certification of recycled products.
Thanks to a cooperative approach, which fosters knowledge sharing and co-creation between the academic world and industry, the project aims to stimulate innovation and contribute to building a more sustainable, competitive, and resilient textile sector.
How ?
The project is based on:
- Networking higher education, vocational training, and industrialists working in the textile sector;
- Integrating the principles of the circular economy, digital transformation, and sustainability into training programmes;
- The development of innovative training programmes in textile recycling, eco-design, and certification;
- Strengthening the role of clusters and hubs as bridges between schools and businesses;
- The deployment of specific online education, a permanent Observatory of Textile Skills, and a mobility programme including interregional “intensive courses and hackathons”.
The Role of Techtera
As the French representative of the consortium, Techtera is actively committed to anchoring the project in the realities of the national textile industry.
In order to do this, Techtera:
- Consults industry, the academic world, and training specialists about their immediate and five-year skills and training needs;
- Collects and analyses available studies concerning the French textile industry and training programmes dedicated to the sector;
- Alongside European partners, contributes to gathering, cross-referencing, and using this information to co-develop training programmes tailored to the needs of French industry.
A very positive first sign: in the December 2025 survey, France emerged as the leading contributing country with 18% response.
Half of the French respondents agreed to increase their participation. Techtera warmly thanks them for this.
