Techtera is a partner of the European GREENSPIRE project, launched on June 1. Funded by the European Union, this collaborative project extends over a period of four years and has a budget of 3 million euros. It brings together ten partners, from both the industrial world and the academic sector, representing six different countries.
Tools for measuring and improving the environmental footprint
The GREENSPIRE project aims to develop new rules and tools for assessing environmental performance in two high-impact sectors: home textiles and polyurethane foam products.
More precisely, GREENSPIRE aims to co-develop and co-validate, with industrial and institutional groups, new Product Environmental Footprint Category Rules (PEFCR), databases, as well as evaluation tools based on a complete life cycle approach.
Through this work, the project will contribute to promoting eco-design, supporting the implementation of the Regulation on the ecodesign of sustainable products (ESPR) and accelerating the deployment of circular economy practices using harmonized, reliable and accessible methods.
Techtera’s role
In this context, Techtera will be responsible for establishing and coordinating a technical committee comprising members from industry, design, research, NGOs (Non-Governmental Organizations), and public authorities.
Its mission will be to provide strategic direction for the GREENSPIRE project and ensure its feasibility by advising experts, contributing to the development of the “PEFCR,” and defining the product sub-categories to be studied.
Ultimately, the goal is to ensure and facilitate the adoption of the methods and tools developed by the home textiles sector.
