Three years after the launch of the “Circular Economy and Textiles” laboratory, the “Fil en Commun” experiment is coming to an end. This ambitious project aimed to test a turnkey service for the management of end-of-life professional clothing, combining upcycling and recycling solutions.
Driven by the commitment of local inclusion stakeholders (Le Foyer Notre-Dame des Sans-Abri, ELISE Lyon), end-of-life textile organization (Nouvelles Fibres Textiles), as well as local companies (Keolis Bus Lyon, Enedis, Technip Energies), this experiment has proven the viability of the model. Today, the “Fil en Commun” proposal is maintained by “Le Foyer Notre-Dame des Sans-Abri” and ELISE Lyon.
What conclusions can be drawn from this experiment?
- A new textile collection model that easily integrates into existing business processes
- A measurable environmental impact thanks to textile recycling
- Support for local employment through integration organisations
And tomorrow?
- For firms: take into account the textile sorting law imposed by AGEC (Anti-waste law).
- For local authorities: support the industry through targeted funding.
- For textile organisations: stabilise the supply stream, in order to secure the activities of collectors and sorters.
Techtera played a central role in this experiment, participating in collective intelligence workshops and addressing regional issues facing the industry.
Two members were directly involved in the project.
Fil en Commun is now laying the foundations for a more responsible professional textile industry — an ambition fully shared by Techtera.
