Founded in 2025, H&B Materials develops bio-sourced hydrophobic and oleophobic finishes. These respond to the growing sustainability and regulatory compliance requirements in the textile industry, particularly in the face of restrictions concerning the PFAS (Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances).
The startup designs innovative, high-performance, and environmentally friendly textile functionalisation solutions. Their technology gives water-repellent properties to textiles, while maintaining their breathability, comfort, and recyclability.
The system is compatible with standard industrial processes such as padding and coating. Manufacturers can therefore adopt this innovation without modifying their machinery; thereby, facilitating its deployment on a large scale.
H&B Materials is supported by several key organisations in the textile and chemical ecosystem: : Techtera, Axelera et le CNRS / Université Claude Bernard Lyon 1. Industries such as TDV Industries and Finipur have already supplied textiles to evaluate the system’s effectiveness on cotton/PET blends. This is an area of high importance for the sector’s ecological transition.
