REC-N-COMP goals

Support the internationalisation of European SMEs whose activities are related to the manufacture of composites from recycled materials, particularly textiles. A joint internationalisation strategy will be developed and tested, targeting three countries: the USA, Japan and Singapore.

3 exploratory missions in 2022-2023

On January 18, 2022, REC-N-COMP launched a “call for pitches” for SMEs from partner countries (Italy, France, Poland, Belgium). 5 SMEs per target country (USA, Japan and Singapore) have been selected. They will participate in the missions in the target countries, with their travel expenses covered by the project.

The first mission took place in the USA, during the week of October 17th. It included a visit to the CAMX trade show in Anaheim, California, which is the country’s main trade show dedicated to the composites sector. REC-N-COMP and the participating companies took part in a tour of the show, as well as a program of meetings with companies, a university and industry associations in California.

The mission to Japan took place during the week of 15 May 2023. It took 6 companies to Tokyo and then Osaka. The programme included meetings with Japanese companies (Kuraray, Unitika, Paneco, etc.), as well as a meeting with members of the Japan Carbon Fiber Manufacturers Association. At the end of the week, the participants attended Highly-functional material week, a trade fair dedicated to materials with a recycling and sustainability dimension. A total of 15 group meetings and 12 individual meetings took place during the mission. Following the mission, the partnership signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Tohoku University.

The mission to Singapore will take place during the week of 18 September 2023. For this final mission, REC-N-COMP will accompany 13 SMEs on a programme of B2B meetings, visits to research centres and participation in Singapore Design Week.
