Optikan, a specialist in non-destructive testing in industry, has completed a fundraising of €830,000.
Created in 2021 after seven years of research at the Material and System Integration Laboratory (IMS) in Bordeaux, Optikan has developing an innovative scanner for non-destructive testing based on terahertz radiation, intended for industry. These rays penetrate non-conductive materials (elastomers, composites, textiles, wood, ceramics) without contact or danger; unlike X-rays, ultrasound or infrared rays. It thus allows production line control, reducing the environmental and economic impact linked to sub-quality products.
In 2023, Optikan validated the technical feasibility of its system in the laboratory and developed a high-speed terahertz inspection demonstrator, paving the way for an industrial scanner for production lines.
Supported by various organisations, this fundraising aims to finance an industrial scanner capable of inspecting articles manufactured on production lines in real time.
